SmartDoc Desktop — Screen Capture

SmartDoc Desktop is a Windows application that automatically creates visual technical procedures. Simply start a recording, perform the steps in any application, and SmartDoc Desktop captures each action with annotated screenshots.

Installation

  1. Download SmartDoc Desktop from the SmartDoc admin portal
  2. Run the Windows installer (.exe)
  3. The application launches and appears in the system tray
  4. Log in with your SmartDoc credentials

Requirements: Windows 10 or later

How It Works

Capture Principle

SmartDoc Desktop uses an intelligent system that:

  1. Continuous capture — The screen is recorded at regular intervals (~500ms) in a buffer
  2. Click detection — Each mouse click triggers saving the current capture
  3. Keystroke recording — Text typed between clicks is captured automatically
  4. Window identification — The active application name is recorded with each step
  5. Sensitive data filtering — Passwords and personal information are automatically masked

Automatic Recording

  • Arrows — Point to important elements
  • Rectangles and circles — Frame areas of interest

Publishing

  • Direct upload — Send the procedure directly to SmartDoc
